Semiconductor industry. Technicians working with equipment for making microchips. Microchips are built using advanced physics technology, including techniques such as vacuum deposition of thin films of silicon doped with impurities such as gallium and arsenic. Elaborate equipment allows improved microchips to be made, pushing the boundaries of current technology. The silicon wafers have to be kept clean, hence the use of a clean room and the use of clean-room clothing. These technicians are working for the French silicon wafer manufacturer Picogiga that specialises in thin-film substrates.
