Semiconductor research. Researcher using forceps to place a semiconductor sample in a chemical. Semiconductors can be made using a wide variety of materials and techniques. Materials range from organic chemicals used in light-emitting displays, to the inorganic materials used in computer electronics. Techniques for making semiconductors range from deposition under vacuum for controlling the properties of the semiconductor, to etching techniques using chemicals and light-resistant materials to construct a circuit on a microchip.
