False-colour scanning electron micrograph (SEM) of human nerve cells growing on the surface of a Motorola 16000 microprocessor integrated circuit (silicon chip). The picture was taken in the course of research into biohybrid circuits - circuits of the future that will combine electronic & biological features. The micrograph demonstrates how much smaller are the organic circuits of the brain than man-made micro- electronic ones. Magnification: x70 at 35mm size.
