Biochip. Computer artwork of an integrated circuit incorporating a leaf as part of the circuit. The central chip has been replaced by a section of a leaf. The image represents the concept of a bio-chip, that is a chip which has an organic component as part of its overall circuitry. Both organic and electronic components work on a stimulus/response principle. However organic components, such as nerve cells are far more powerful processors than their man-made counterparts. It is hoped that natural processors such as nerve cells could be harnessed in computers.
