Control room. Engineer monitoring electricity flow on the National Grid in a computerised supply control room. A computer terminal (at centre right) displays the electricity supply on a geographical map. Another screen (at far right) displays production statistics. Lights on the far wall indicate the powerlines used to transport electricity between substations. Electricity demand must not be allowed to outstrip supply. If the supply is inadequate, the frequency of the electricity will drop or sections of the supply grid will have to be cut off.
