CDC 6600 computer. The CDC (Control Data Corporation) 6600 was an early computer at the National Centre for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) in Boulder, Colorado, USA. Though extremely limited by today's standards, the machine allowed NCAR and university scientists to carry out some of the first modelling of long-term global circulation. The computer used a program that consisted of punch cards or seven-channel digital magnetic tape. Photographed in 1965.
