Computer assembly. Technician assembling a computer hard drive on a production line. By working in a clean room and wearing protective clothing the delicate circuitry is kept free of dirt, hair or clothing fibres. Hard drives or hard discs provide the computer with a long-term store for data. Each side of the disc is coated with magnetic material. Data is stored in binary digits (digital form) as tiny areas of magnetization in a particular direction. The stored information is accessed by electromagnetic read/write heads that move across the spinning disc.
