Computer mouse wrapped in its cable. This image could represent problems with using a computer, or the replacement of such mice with cordless mice. A cordless mouse uses infrared or radio waves to send data to a computer, instead of a cord. The data contains information on the location of the mouse (sensed with a wheel underneath the mouse), as well as whether the buttons or scroll wheel have been used. This is translated into motion (of a pointer) on the computer screen, or scrolling (of a graphics or text display), or (by clicking) the implementation of a command. A mouse is used with a graphical user interface (GUI), and it is a vital piece of a computer's operating equipment.
