The devices are (clockwise from top): monitor (screen), processor unit, telephone (not a computer peripheral), mouse, keyboard, Compact Disc Read Only Memory drive (CD-ROM), disc drive, modem. The monitor relays data to the user. The processor performs calculations and stores the computer's memory. The mouse controls a cursor on the screen. The keyboard is used to enter commands. A CD-ROM reads data from a compact disc. A disc drive reads data from, and writes it to, a floppy disc. A modem links one computer to another through a telephone line.
