Computer-aided diamond cutting. The screen shows a cut diamond (pink) surrounded by the shape of an uncut diamond (white). The information is obtained by scanning the uncut diamond. The diamond cutter can then rotate the view and try different cutting angles, allowing him to plan how to produce a large, high-quality diamond. This program is being used at the Kristall Smolensk company in Smolensk, Russia. The company, the first and largest polished diamond manufacturer in Russia, was founded in 1963. Photographed in 2006.
