Caption

Computer face recognition. Man having his faced scanned by a laser anotropometer for computer face recognition. A technician views the scanned face on a computer screen. The laser (mounted on the wall at upper left) passes a vertical line of high intensity light over the subject's face. By rotating the subject on the chair, a series of vertical profiles is created. These are detected by a video camera and passed to a computer which reconstructs the face to an accuracy of 0.5 millimetres. Computers can recognise faces by comparing the distances between specific points.
