Virtual reality architecture. Composite image of a computer scientist and a 3-D design plan of a proposed building that can be explored by virtual reality. Virtual reality architecture systems allow users to take a 3-D guided tour of a building before it is even built. Design plans are fed into a computer and converted into lifelike 3- D graphics. Visitors can explore the building by wearing virtual reality headsets fitted with stereo video goggles and spatial sensors, enabling them to move from room to room as if they were in the real world. Photographed at the Department of Computer Science, University of North Carolina, USA.
