Robocup 2003. Competitor watching a game in the Robocup 2003 simulation league. The Robocup is an annual event in which teams of autonomous robots and computer programs, from an assortment of institutions, play football against each other. In the this league no robots are involved, but teams comprise eleven autonomous software agents. The games are played in a computer, and the designers watch the outcomes on the large screen. The other leagues feature teams of autonomous robots of various designs. The competition's aim is to develop a team of humanoid robots that can beat the best human side in the world by 2050. The 2003 event, the 7th Robocup, was held in Padua, Italy.
