MindSet brainwave-reading headset. Zoom lens photographic effect of a person wearing a Mindset brain-computer interface (BCI) headset. This headset was developed by Neurosky Inc., San Jose, USA. It contains a single electroencephalogram (EEG) sensor which is placed in contact with the wearer's forehead and detects electrical activity produced by the brain. Signals are transmitted wirelessly to a computer where they are translated by software. The user can manipulate virtual objects on computer with 'mind control' alone. This headset is designed to be used with computer games, but may have applications as a medical or therapeutic tool. Photographed in 2008.
