Newark International Airport. Satellite image of the runways and buildings at the Newark Liberty International Airport, New Jersey, USA. North is at top. This is one of the main airports serving the New York City area. It has three runways, with the two main ones (centre right) over 3 kilometres long. The terminal buildings are at centre. The airport dates from 1928, but these terminals date from 1973 and 1988. The road at right of the main runways is Interstate 95. The channels of water at right lead into Newark Bay, and eventually to the Atlantic Ocean. New York City is 10 kilometres to the east. Image taken by the Ikonos satellite on 21 December 2001.
