Wreck of P-38 Lightning. This is believed to be Antoine de Saint-Exupery's plane. A diver is exploring the wreckage. Saint-Exupery was a French writer and aviator who escaped to the USA after the 1939 invasion of France. He had been one of the early aviation pioneers and soon returned to Britain to fight with the allies. On July 31 1944 he flew a mission over the Rhone River Valley. He never returned. In 2004 this wreck, found in Lecques Bay off the coast of Marseilles, was confirmed as being that of Saint- Exupery.
