Electric car. An electric car having its batteries recharged at a "Solar Park and Ride" car park in Leistal, Switzerland. The car is plugged into a recharging post. In the background is a building with a panel of photovoltaic cells (solar cells) on its wall. These cells convert sunlight into electricity which is fed back into the national grid, thus compensating for the electricity used in recharging electric car batteries. Various electric cars have been developed, some having a range of up to 150 kilometres, maximum speeds of 100 kilometres per hour, accelerations of 0-50 km/h in 10 seconds, and extremely low energy consumption compared to conventional cars.
