Kansas Motor Speedway, Kansas, USA, satellite image. This race track, which covers 5 square kilometres, is situated 24 kilometres west of downtown Kansas City. It opened in spring 2001 and cost $224 million to construct. The tri-oval track is 2.5 kilometres long, 16 metres wide and banks at up to 15 degrees. It hosts NASCAR and Indy races. The stands seat 150,000 spectators. Also in the grounds is a 3-square-kilometre car park for 65,000 vehicles. Taken by the Ikonos satellite.
