Channel Tunnel train. Time-exposure image of a Eurostar Channel Tunnel train. The Channel Tunnel provides a rail link between Britain and mainland Europe. For example, trains go from London to Paris in about three hours. They travel at 140 km per hour through the 39 km long tunnel and reach up to 298 km per hour on some overland stretches. North Pole International Depot at Acton, London, had reached #970 million by mid-1993.
