Helicopter drops water over a forest fire. A helicopter releases water. This fire suppression method is used directly over fires and also over homes and buildings projected to be in the path of a forest fire. A long hose hanging from the undercarriage is used to suck up water from a nearby lake. The water is stored within the helicopter until it reaches the destination, and then released. Photographed in 2002 at Glenwood Springs, Colorado, USA.
