Lighthouse at dusk. As the last rays of the Sun tint the horizon, the lighthouse assumes its role in warning shipping of the dangers of nearby rocks. The beam from the lighthouse sweeps across the sea, and is coded as a series of flashes. Thus the crew of a ship may identify the lighthouse, and use it as a navigational beacon to fix their position. Photographed at Peggy's Cove in Nova Scotia, Canada.
