Caption

Exterior view of a simulator for training airliner crews. This simulator, with full motion capability, may imitate all aspects of flight in a Boeing 737-300 airliner. It is used both to train new pilots and to examine existing pilots in normal flight and emergency procedures. The large curved surface is the backing of a mylar mirror. This reflects computer-generated images with a 180 degree view in daylight, dusk or night of any of 20 real airports. The crew can 'fly' regular routes, and practice landings and take-offs. Emergencies that may be simulated include engine and electrical fires, control and instrument failures, severe thunderstorms and fog.
