Commercial diver writing notes underwater. The pad (yellow) and writing device (tethered to the pad) use materials that do not dissolve in water. A viewing device is mounted on the helmet. Cables from the surface are supplying electrical power for the lights, and allowing communication with the surface. The diver's helmet is connected to an air supply on his back. The mouthpiece is seen below the helmet viewing plate. Bubbles from the air supply are seen above the diver. Photographed at the National Institute of Professional Diving (INPP), Marseilles, France.
