Commercial diver using calipers to measure part of an underwater structure. An underwater writing pad (yellow) is tethered to the diver's left hand. The pad is designed to be written on underwater using materials that don't dissolve in water. A viewing device is mounted on the helmet. Cables from the surface are supplying electrical power for the lights, and allowing communication with the surface. The diver's helmet is connected to an air supply on his back. The mouthpiece is seen below the viewing plate in the helmet. Bubbles from the air supply are seen rising above the diver. Photographed at the National Institute of Professional Diving (INPP), Marseilles, France.
