Welder using an electric arc to weld a hard coating onto the surface of an excavator bucket. Electric arc welding uses the heat generated by an electric arc to fuse two pieces of metal together. One electrode is fastened to the item to be welded, and the other electrode is attached to a welding rod. Due to the electric discharge the rod melts and enables the joining of metals. The operator wears a mask to protect him from sparks and bright light. Excavator buckets are attached to vehicles involved in earth- moving and construction work.
