Rusted machine parts of WWII debris on Attu island, Alaska. Attu is the most remote island in the Aleutians. It is rarely visited except by the coast guard personnel who are its only permanent inhabitants and by bird watching tours. Attu was the site of WWIIs second bloodiest battle where 2,500 Japanese and Americans died.
