Metal corrosion experiment. Studying the effects of corrosion (lower left) on a piece of metal. This research is being carried out as part of work on developing an anti-corrosion paint. The most common cause of corrosion is oxidation (reacting with the oxygen in the air), but other causes include salt from seawater, sulphur pollutants, stress, biological acids, and heat-related effects.
