Coating agricultural seeds at a production facility. The bright blue dye indicates that the seeds have been chemically treated, usually with fungicides and pesticides, allowing the treated seeds to be distinguished from untreated ones. Treating seeds protects them from moulds and insects in between planting and germination, allowing them to lie dormant in the ground for some time after planting.
