Chipboard factory. Smoke rising from chimneys at a chipboard factory. Chipboard (also known as hardboard) is a cheap building material made by pressing together wood chips and binding them with a synthetic resin at high temperatures. The manufacture of chipboard results in the emission of formaldehyde (methanal) into the atmosphere. Photographed in Chirk, Wrexham, Wales.
