Dam and reservoir. View across the Barrage de la Grand Dixence in the Swiss Alps, the world's highest concrete dam at 284 metres. It is 75 metres wide, and 20 metres thick at its base. To the left is the Grand Dixence reservoir created by the dam. The wall holds back 400 million cubic metres of water.
