Replacing water mains. Trench with newly replaced water pipes. The water pipes are made of used in the pipe-bursting method of replacing pipes. This allows the size of a existing pipe to be made larger without excavating the entire pipe. Instead the existing pipeline is shattered and replaced when the pipe is dragged through it. Photographed in Northumbria, England, UK.
