The World's Safest House. The main stairway of what is claimed to be the World's safest house. The stairway consists of a smooth spiral ramp which curves around the central living area of the house. Architect Eugene Tsui's building is composed entirely of curved structures, and is claimed to be earthquake-proof, safe from damage by termites and fire-resistant. The large window at upper right, sixteen feet in diameter, is designed to provide passive solar space heating for the house. Tsui built the house in a residential street in Berkeley, California.
