Burj al Arab. Opened in 1999, the Burj al-Arab (Tower of the Arabs) is 321 meters high and is the world's tallest hotel. It is built on an artificial island in the Persian Gulf. The building resembles a dhow, a type of regional vessel, and has been strategically positioned so that no shadow falls on the surrounding beach. The hotel is located in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
