Nelson's Column in Trafalgar Square, London, UK. Nelson's Column was built between 1840 and 1843 to commemorate Admiral Horatio Nelson, who died defeating the Spanish Navy at the Battle of Trafalgar. In the background are two fountains (centre left and right) and the National Gallery (top). Major and national celebrations are often held in Trafalgar Square, including those for the New Year.
