Reinforced concrete. View of a reinforced concrete bridge under construction. The steel cage which forms the reinforcement skeleton is visible. Material known as a formwork will be wrapped around the cage; it encloses the cage and provides a mould into which the concrete is poured. The concrete sets enough for the formwork to be removed in sixteen hours. It continues to gain strength for several weeks thereafter. Photographed in Normandy, France.
