Hotel demolition. Image 4 of 4. Hotel and a crowd of spectators watching it being demolished by a series of controlled explosions. The hotel is the Hilton Hotel in Hartford, Connecticut, USA. It was demolished on 28 October 1990, so that the owner could avoid paying city taxes. The explosives that bring down the building must be carefully placed to bring the building down completely and safely. The building must also be stripped of any material that might create toxic dust.
