Uranium mining. Miners using equipment to extract uranium ore from an underground mine. The machine being used here is a 2KV tunneller. This is the Gluboky uranium mine, in the Chita region of Russia. The Chita region is in south-eastern Siberia, bordering Mongolia and China. In 2006, 2800 tons of uranium ore were extracted from this mine. It is operated by the Priargunsky Industrial Mining and Chemical Association. Photographed on 8 August 2006.
