Hydrogen car engine. This low-emission BMW engine has been altered to burn hydrogen. Although nitrogen oxides are formed during combustion, and carbon monoxide is created from vaporized lubricants, the main product is water. To keep the hydrogen as a liquid it is stored at -253 degrees Celsius by the 70 insulating sheets of aluminium and fibreglass in its fuel tank. Photographed in Germany.
