Car production line at the Volkswagen Transparent Factory, Dresden, Germany. This factory, opened in 2001, was built to make the luxury Phaeton car model. The production line combines automation and manual craftmanship to ensure high standards of construction. Customers and tourists can tour the factory and watch the construction of the cars in clean, quiet areas with wooden floors. The worker is retrieving a brake light fitting from a large parts rack to fit to a car. A rack of component parts accompanies each car through the assembly process. Cars are seen on overhead conveyor belts and floor-based conveyor belts. The cars are at an advanced stage of assembly.
