Scientist working with chromatography equipment used in the pilot scale preparation of monoclonal antibodies. Chromatography ("colour writing" in Greek) provides a sensitive method for separating small samples of mixtures & is especially useful when the components of a mixture have similar physical properties. Here, the scientist is using ion exchange chromatography - an anion exchange resin in the column selectively concentrates the protein components of a liquid mixture. Photographed at Celltech Ltd, Slough, UK.
