Scientist working with chromatography equipment used in the pilot scale preparation of monoclonal antibodies. The various techniques of chromatography ("colour writing" in Greek) provide sensitive methods for separating small samples of mixtures & are especially useful when the components of a mixture have similar physical properties. Here, the scientist is using ion exchange chromatography - an anion exchange resin in the cylindrical column selectively concentrates the protein components of a liquid mixture.
