Automated drug manufacture. A Granulation Supervisor at the controls of a fluid bed dryer. This uses a hot air stream to dry the active ingredient of a drug. The hot air is introduced at the base of a hopper full of the wet granulated drug, creating a fluidised bed effect. This dries the drug thoroughly, and ensures that no clumping occurs between grains. The drug may then be mixed with its base and pressed into tablets, or can be loaded into capsules. Photographed in Mexico.
