Vitamin B12 manufacture. Technician attending to machinery used in the manufacture of vitamin B12 (also called cyanocobalamin). Vitamin B12 is only present in those foods of animal origin. The chemically-produced form can be taken as a dietary supplement by those who exclude such foods from their diet. In the body, vitamin B12 is essential for growth and development, in the production of red blood cells and to ensure the correct working of the nervous system. Lack of vitamin B12 can lead to anaemia, a sore mouth, nerve damage and also depression and memory loss. This facility is operated by Glaxo Wellcome.
