Pharmaceutical research. Automated NMR (nuclear magnetic resonance) spectrometer arm moving a vial of a sample for analysis. An NMR spectrometer is used to help determine the molecular structure of a chemical compound. Here, it is being used in pharmaceutical research into new drugs. NMR spectroscopy measures the resonance between an applied magnetic field and the magnetic moment of a molecule's atoms. Photographed at Celltech's Cambridge research laboratories, UK.
