Pharmaceutical NMR display. Two-dimensional NMR (nuclear magnetic resonance) spectrometer display for a new drug molecule. The results are in the form of a contour plot. The display has intensity (colour) plotted against two frequency axes, and has the typical symmetry of a 2-D NMR display. It is symmetric about the lower left to upper right diagonal, and shows the distribution of hydrogen atoms in the molecule. NMR spectroscopy is useful for analysing the interactions between atoms in a molecule. NMR spectroscopy measures the resonance between an applied magnetic field and the magnetic moment of a molecule's atoms.
