Paper mill machinery. This part of the papermaking process involves depositing cellulose fibres in water to form a sheet of paper. The cellulose fibres are obtained from pulped wood from trees. The sheet of paper is then dried by squeezing and draining the water. This is the Kotlas Pulp and Paper Mill in the Arkhangelsk Region of northern Russia. It is part of the Ilim Pulp company, which owns several other mills, as well as logging companies, making it the largest pulp and forestry company in Russia, and one of the largest in the world. As of 2003, it was producing 2.8 million tons of paper. Photographed on 10 April 2006.
