Mine clearing. Bomb disposal expert using a magnetometer to find mines. It works by detecting changes in the local magnetic field caused by metal in the mines. Mines are small explosives buried just under the ground designed to kill and injure personnel and to destroy vehicles. Once detected, they are carefully dug up and have their triggers and detonators deactivated. The explos- ives are then destroyed in a controlled explosion.
