Military arctic survival training. Navy recruits on a long-distance ski trek, during arctic survival training in Northern Greenland. The recruits are on a 100 kilometre ski race as part of training for the Royal Danish Navy's SIRIUS sledge patrol unit. During training, the recruits must learn to survive sub-zero temperatures, create emergency snow shelters, hunt for food and drive dogsledge teams. The primary task of SIRIUS is to patrol, survey and protect Danish territory in North and Northeast Greenland.
