Hans Sachs in Frankfurt in 1568. The illustration shows the water wheels (left, through windows) which drive the pulping machinery (left, background) and the large press (right, background) used for pressing the sheets of paper prior to drying. The paper-maker (right) is depositing an even layer of pulp onto a frame ready for pressing and the boy (left) is carrying away a stack of finished sheets of paper.
