Weaving looms, historical artwork. The invention of the mechanized weaving loom in late 18th century England began the Industrial Revolution. These power looms were the first machines to "mass produce" items for sales, and rooms like this were the forerunners to factories. The Industrial Revolution was marked by a centralisation of production, increased mechanization and division of labour amongst workers. Artwork taken from History of wonderful inventions, London, 1849.
